Bruce Hornsby’s work display a creative iconoclasm that’s been a constant in the artist’s two-and-a-half decade recording career. His commercial stock soared early on, when “The Way It Is” - the title track of his 1986 debut album - became one of the more popular songs on American radio. Despite his early mainstream successes, Hornsby has pursued a more personal, idiosyncratic musical path, focusing on projects that sparked his creative interest, including collaborations with the Grateful Dead, Spike Lee, Ricky Skaggs, Don Henley, Ornette Coleman, Bob Dylan, Bela Fleck, Bonnie Raitt, Pat Metheny, and Robbie Robertson. Hornsby’s performance will offer a glimpse of a restless spirit who continues to push forward into exciting new musical terrain.

After celebrating their 40th anniversary with the cleverly titled 2013 album Disconnected In New York City, Los Lobos, known for their crossover hit “La Bamba” which reached #1 on the U.S. and UK singles charts, leapt headfirst into their fifth decade with an invitation to join them as they open fresh and exciting new Gates of Gold. As the Mexican American band’s first full length studio album since 2010’s Tin Can Trust, a Grammy nominee for Best Americana Album, and second with Savoy/429 Records, Gates of Gold showcases dynamic songwriting, deeply poetic lyrics, thoughtful romantic and spiritual themes, and an eclectic blend of styles resulting in an American saga in the rich literary tradition of legendary authors John Steinbeck and William Faulkner.
