Here in the Southeast, we are fortunate to have numerous native species of ferns - suited to nearly every habitat…from aquatic to hot and dry. Ferns have been present for significantly longer than humans and they represent an important step in plant evolution. Though a focus of the class will be identification of many of our ferns suitable to gardens, we will also discuss many other fascinating facts about ferns. Participants will be invited to collect and press specimens from our extensive fern collections to take home.
