Software product management is often presented as a single discipline, but who and what you're building software products for matters tremendously. Enterprise software presents a whole new range of challenges for Product Managers that isn't often addressed in most product management training. In this session, Blair Reeves, a Product Principal at SAS Software, will explain how and why enterprise product management is a different beast. He will also talk about ways aspiring product managers should think about it in contrast to consumer software.

Main takeaways:
-Product management for enterprise software is meaningfully different from its counterpart in consumer software
-Enterprise software product management calls for a different set of skills, strategies and expectations
-Moving into a PM role for enterprise software can tap your past experience in a new way - tips and advice for exploring opportunities
-"The enterprise" still holds a ton of opportunity for new entrants, unlike the consumer market

Meet the Speaker: Blair Reeves

Blair Reeves is a Principal Product Manager at SAS Software, and has previously held senior product and leadership roles at Demandware (now the Salesforce Commerce Cloud) and IBM. He speaks, writes, and consults on product management in enterprise software, remote workforces, and other topics. Blair is an avid hiker, writer and codes creatively. He believes inspired products are built first in the gym. He has an annoying Twitter habit at @BlairReeves.
