With special guest Lorenzo de Monteclaro
Ramon Ayala has mastered the artistry of playing accordion, singing and songwriting for over 40 years and has defined norteño music with signature songs and definitive instrumental styling that has made him a superstar on both sides of the El Rio Grande. He virtually invented modern conunto music, teaming up with the late bajo sexton guitarist Corenlio Reyna to form Los Relampagos del Norte, the duo forged a distinctive sound and compiled a roster of songs that have since been covered by countless artists in contemporary Latin music. Ayala makes his return to Reno on Friday, Feb. 16 at the Reno Ballroom with special guest Lorenzo de Monteclaro.
Fast forward to years later, Ayala continues to be a classic singer who is remembered as one of the founders of the modern norteño music. He has won and has been nominated for several Grammy awards. In 2001, Ayala was awarded with an American Grammy award for the album “En Vivo… El Hombre Y Su Musica” and has also been awarded with two Latin Grammys for the albums “Quemame Los Ojos” and “El Numero Cien.” His influence on modern music cannot be overstated, as most norteño groups today use this style as their musical foundation.
Because of his enormous tradition in the interpretation of norteño music, Lorenzo de Monteclaro is considered a living legend. In addition to innumerable awards and honors, his music and ability as an interpreter have led him to explore and conquer the hearts of thousands of people throughout Mexico, the United States, Central and South America. De Monteclaro has a charisma and natural talent that has made him the most successful northern singer in recent times, a living legend who retains the simplicity, humility, transparency and professionalism that characterized him since his inception more than 57 years ago.
