Seattle Symphony: Sibelius' "Kullervo"
When?Start time: Sunday 2:00pm (03 June)
Finland -- the country that brought us Angry Birds, an insane number of heavy metal bands and the sauna -- has a rich tradition of folk mythology, which the country's most famous composer, Jean Sibelius, turned into a monumental vocal symphony called "Kullervo". Conductor Thomas Dausgaard and the Seattle Symphony and Chorale bring this haunting, dramatic tale of a tragic hero to life at Benaroya Hall, with the help of soprano Maria Mannisto and baritone Benjamin Appl.
