Why We Must Explore New Frontiers in Liberty in Our World Now
We stand today on the edge of a New Frontier — the frontier of the 1960s, the frontier of unknown opportunities and perils, the frontier of unfilled hopes and unfilled threats. … Beyond that frontier are uncharted areas of science and space, unsolved problems of peace and john_f-_kennedy_white_house_photo_portrait_looking_upwar, unconquered problems of ignorance and prejudice, unanswered questions of poverty and surplus.
–John F. Kennedy, 1960 Acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention
A “frontier” is the outer limit of what we know—the border of a settled community, for example, or the limit of what we know in science or psychology. For millennia, humans have challenged those frontiers by moving westward into new lands or outward into new technologies or inward into new ideas about human interaction. At FreedomFest we want to rise above the limitations of what “everybody knows” to explore the possibilities of what is not yet known.
We’re excited to bring you new developments in science, health, and technology that once existed only in the imaginations of storytellers. Breakthroughs in computer science, cyber-communication, prosthetics, spinal cord injuries, cancer, and nutrition research are just some of the technologies allowing people to transcend former limitations. What’s next?
We’re also concerned about the limitations imposed by onerous government regulations, taxes, and homeland security measures, and it’s only getting worse after this election cycle. So we’ll be exploring new frontiers in privacy protection, financial health, and personal security.
We live in dangerous times as we stand at the crossroads of a new philosophical frontier. Which direction will our world take? Join us at FreedomFest where we will explore new frontiers and boldly go where others have only imagined.
