About

Opening: May 18, 6-8pm
Exhibition: May 19-20, 12-6pm

Wayne Snellen returns to the LLM Project Space, a place where he feels most comfortable, a place of eminent intimacy, created in a time when artists could only show "that sort of work" in a shadowy venue held in low esteem by most gallerists, critics, and art historians. Times have changed. Snellen retired in 2015 to the mercifully calm environs of the Jersey shore, establishing his studio as a place of refuge and continuing development of his art but rarely venturing out of the safety of the studio. Now, with this show, he is ready once again to present his work to an audience in a sacred place. The eroticism and honesty of the brushstroke work to create a vision of interior tension held together by line and color in tune with his maturity and preparedness for the hope of that surprisingly intimate line between you and me.
